Edwin "Ed" Hancel Parker, 87, a longtime resident of Atlanta, died on Wednesday, the 25th of March 2015. Born and reared in Jacksonville, Florida, Hancel was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. Upon completing his tour of duty, he moved to Atlanta to enroll at Georgia Tech where he received his BS in Engineering. After graduation, he went to work for Lockheed Martin, retiring from there after a long and successful career. He spent his retirement years playing a lot of golf. Some of his proudest golfing moments were playing with the Atlanta Seniors...

Edwin "Ed" Hancel Parker, 87, a longtime resident of Atlanta, died on Wednesday, the 25th of March 2015. Born and reared in Jacksonville, Florida, Hancel was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. Upon completing his tour of duty, he moved to Atlanta to enroll at Georgia Tech where he received his BS in Engineering. After graduation, he went to work for Lockheed Martin, retiring from there after a long and successful career. He spent his retirement years playing a lot of golf. Some of his proudest golfing moments were playing with the Atlanta Seniors Association. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Alice R. Parker; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Jane Russell of Conyers; grandchildren, Tammy A. Russell, Cathy D. Russell, Tony Russell, Tim Russell, Leah Russell; 3 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon the 29th of March at two o'clock at Arlington Memorial Park with Reverend David Kenley of Brookhaven Christian Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Parkinson's disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family Saturday afternoon from four until six o'clock at H. M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, NE, Sandy Springs, Georgia 30328.
